Daniel Sandu, internationally-known dancer , teacher, and performer of Gypsy, Romanian and ethnic fusion dances, will have a dance workshop in Gainesville March 30th-April 1.
Currently a resident of Amsterdam, Daniel Sandu has performed since his early years/ youth in ensembles such as Rapsody Romana of Bucharest , Romania and Het Internationaal Dans Theater of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He studied at the Dance Academy of Rotterdam earning his bachelor's in dance. Since then he has performed and given workshopsin Europe, the United States, and Asia, most recently in HongKong. Daniel Sandu will teach Gypsy and Romanian dances emphasizing self-expression and developing improvisational skills.
Mr. Sandu is an electrifying performer and enthusiastic teacher, with an easy going and humorous personality.
Teaching sessions and the evening parties are open to the public. Mr. Sandu begins with simple dances and patterns and slowly increases the difficulty so it is easy to follow.
Dance students are especially encouraged to attend the Saturday afternoon session for improvisation and fusion dance/approach.
The sessions will be held at the GDMA building Friday night, and Pofahl Dance Studio on Saturday and Sunday.
